Food is okay but I wouldn't say it's the finest Japanese food. On the other hand it's in my community so it's convenient and their a few things you won't find elsewhere. My sister and friends like to go there. Sis likes the Asian style salad dressing. Service has been good when I've been there so points for that.
Today I experienced their Misoyaki Salmon!!! This was the best salmon dish ever!! Try it if you want to experience salmon at its best.
The hostesses are okay, but they could be more friendly. We had to wait quite a while to get our order taken and then to get our food. Fortunately, our server was very attentive and apologetic. If it wasn't for him and for the quality of the food being good, I might not give it a 3-star. I would have given it 4 stars if I wrote this review 3 years ago, but over the past year, I feel that the quality of service is affecting the popularity of this restaurant.
I usually have shrimp and vegetable tempura. Their tempura is light and crispy.
Food is pretty good. A little bit pricey for the portions. Sometimes the rice is not right for their sushi but generally tasty. Decent food and the place is generally clean , restrooms too.
Gyotaku is a chain restaurant. The food is very good. Excellent sushi and very fresh Tempura. The lunch special is reasonably priced. Excellent service in Pearl City. The building is dated and very well used. Needs love. The carpet has an overwhelming musty smell. If you are sensitive to smell maybe don't go.
We like to come here because we can eat Japanese food for a reasonable price. We used to come more frequently, but the service hasn't been what it used to be. Fortunately, the food...especially the misoyaki salmon...tastes the same.
Always a wonderful and completely satisfying meal!!
